A STARTING POINT FOR YOUR NEXT SET

Adaptive workout targets, informed by your training.

Next Set uses compatible exercise history and your equipment settings to suggest weights and reps for split workouts. Suggestions bring context to the session; you choose what to lift.

Use history that fits the exercise

Past training is more useful when it matches what you are doing now. Next Set’s split targets use compatible exercise history rather than treating every recorded weight as interchangeable. Exercise choice, equipment settings and relevant training context can affect the suggestion.

This matters when your split changes or you train somewhere else. A recorded load on one machine is not a universal baseline for another machine. Keeping the exercise and equipment details accurate helps the app interpret the record. Your gym profile gives those suggestions practical equipment context.

Give weight and rep targets a practical range

Targets include the weight and rep range for the exercise, so the next session has more context than a single number. Weight suggestions also work with the increments you have configured. A useful step needs to be possible with the equipment in front of you.

Illustrative example: a split exercise may show a working weight alongside a range such as 6–10 reps. You record the reps you complete for each set. This is an example of how a target is presented, not a prediction of your next load or a promise that weight will increase every session.

Keep the final choice in your hands

Suggestions can adapt as you log your split workout. You can choose a suitable load and record what you actually do, including a lower weight when a suggested increase does not feel appropriate. The target is a reference, not a requirement to complete a particular lift.

Follow-a-split is the mode that supports dynamic targets. Custom workouts are manually programmed: you choose the exercises and loads, then record the session. Both approaches can use Next Set’s workout tracker and history, but they do not offer the same automatic target behavior.

Bring return context into the session

A previous working weight does not tell the whole story after time away. Next Set uses recorded breaks and recovery context when providing return guidance for your split. Deload tools and warm-up suggestions also support lighter sessions when they are part of your training.

These features provide training context, not a medical assessment or clearance to exercise. If a suggestion seems unexpected, review the exercise, active gym profile, increments and recorded context. Support can help with app behavior; the privacy policy explains how training and optional personal records are handled.
